Year 7 Music
Overview
All students in Year 7 study Music for one term. They engage in practical activities which help them to develop confidence in reading, writing, composing and performing music.
Topics
- Famous composers/musicians across a wide range of musical styles
- Rhythm (students learn to read, notate & perform basic rhythms)
- Pitch (students learn to read and notate pitch in treble & bass clefs)
- Composition projects incorporating basic rhythms and pitch
- Performance opportunities where students share instrumental progress with peers

- Written Tests (assessing rhythm and pitch)
Reporting
Student's assessment results and overall achievement will be reflected in the end-of-semester reports.
Student Expectations / Homework
Music is an interactive and practical subject which demands high levels of student engagement. It is expected that students participate in all classroom activities, both written and practical, in individual and collaborative settings.
In addition, students are expected to regularly revise the written and practical concepts covered in class to further enhance their musicianship skills and prepare for upcoming assessments.
