Year 11 Physical Education Studies General
Overview
Physical Education Studies contributes to the development of students' physical, social and emotional growth. The Physical Education Studies General course provides students with opportunities to understand and improve performance through the integration of theoretical concepts and practical activities. Through engagement as performers, leaders, coaches, analysts and planners of physical activity, students develop skills that can be utilised in leisure, recreation, education, sport development, youth work, health and medical fields. The course also equips students to take on volunteer and leadership roles in community activities.
Topics
Unit 1: The focus of this unit is the development of students' knowledge, understanding and application of anatomical, physiological and practical factors associated with performing in physical activities.
Unit 2: The focus of this unit is the impact of physical activity on the body's anatomical and physiological systems. Students are introduced to these concepts which support them to improve their performance as team members and/or individuals.
Student expectations
Students will be expected to complete approximately 1.5 hours of homework each week. This time should be spent consolidating material covered in class as well as any assigned tasks.
