Learning Enrichment Curricular
Curricular Support
In Years 7 to 10, students receive support from Learning Enrichment staff during their mainstream classes in a variety of ways.
- English Support classes are offered to students in Years 7, 8 and 9 who require further development with literacy skills. These small group classes focus on spelling, grammar, reading, comprehension, essay writing, listening and viewing skills.
- Numeracy support is offered to Year 8 students where a Learning Enrichment teacher works with the Mathematics teacher in regular classes to help students.
- For students in Years 8, 9 and 10, assistance could be on an individual or small group basis. Individual concerns are addressed with appropriate programs. Assistance is also available to students while attending their regular classes.
- In Years 11 and 12, teaching support is targeted at particular subjects that cause concern to the student. Learning Enrichment teachers consult with students either by appointment or while in regular classes.
- Eligible students with special needs such as physical or learning difficulties benefit from the support of Education Assistants while attending regular classes. The Assistants provide support in the management of classroom activities and foster learning and encouragement.
Special Conditions
Students who have been identified as requiring special assistance may be able to apply for special conditions in tests, assessments and examinations throughout Years 7 to 12. Applications for special conditions in WACE examinations are prepared by Learning Enrichment and lodged with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.
