Learning Enrichment Co-Curricular
The Tournament of Minds is a problem-solving competition for teams of students of mixed ages from Years 7 to 10. This is a challenging and rewarding experience that requires problem solving, creative thinking and team work. This competition is open to schools all over Australia and has expanded internationally to New Zealand and Singapore.
To begin with, students work together on a Long Term Challenge for six weeks without the assistance from teachers, parents or peers. They are encouraged to explore possibilities and experiment with ideas. In the first round of the competition (Regional Finals), teams present solutions to their Long Term Challenge and are also required to participate in a Spontaneous Challenge. From the Regional Finals, successful teams progress to the State Finals and ultimately to the Australian Pacific Finals.
John XXIII College has enjoyed great success in this competition.
