Friends of Music and Drama
The Friends of Music and Drama is a parental support network for the Music and Drama departments at John XXIII College. Every year there are so many opportunities for student participation in both Music and Drama events that showcase the wealth of talent at John XXIII College.
George Tsakisiris of the Drama department and James Kros of the Music department are both dedicated teachers who provide an extensive program of artistic events throughout the year. The Friends of Music and Drama is made up of parents of music and drama students from all years and all levels of musical and dramatic ability. The role of the Friends of Music and Drama is to support our wonderful teaching staff by organising the catering at the many performance opportunities that these departments give the students usually on Sunday afternoons and mid-week evening throughout the year. Some of our members attend the music camp held each year at Fairbridge Village.
One of our main activities is to organise the front of house and the interval hospitality for the annual College Musical. We also assist Ms Kiri Moore our costume designer with the maintenance of the costume department.
No specific skills are required for Friends of Music and Drama but a sense of humor and ability to have a good time are desirable. We meet about twice a term to plan events for the term ahead.
Involvement with Friends of Music and Drama is very rewarding and a great way to support your children and make friends within our wonderful college community. If you are interested in joining Friends of Music and Drama we would love to hear from you, please contact the Music Department for more information.
